The KB, MB, GB, and TB acronyms may refer to KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB in some cases. This should only occur when the information available to HPRC staff is not standardized. Note: Notes: 1 byte = 8 bits. Use of the above units shorthand is inconsistent. Networking devices tend to refer to Kb/Mb/Gb/Tb, storage devices tend to refer to KB/MB/GB/TB, while system administrators tend to refer to KiB/MiB/GiB/TiB. The IEC binary prefixes (e.g., KiB) were only first introduced in 2007.
