The infrastructure behind research computing services (provided by HPC) can be broken up into the following categories:

Compute Services (Tsv)

  • 70TB of local disk space (raw),
  • Multiple 1Gb/s and 40Gb/s network connectivity.

 

Storage Services (Tsv)

  • 32 Intel CPU cores,
  • 192GB of memory,
  • 228TB of SAN storage (raw),
  • 8 LTO-5 tape drives in 1 tape library,
  • Approximately 600TB of uncompressed tape capacity,
  • Thirty-three (33) 8Gb/s ports consumed on FC switches,
  • Multiple 1Gb/s, 10Gb/s, and 40Gb/s network connectivity.

Storage Services (Cns)

  • 24 AMD CPU cores,
  • 64GB of memory,
  • 3.6TB of server storage (raw),
  • Multiple 1Gb/s network connectivity.

Virtualization Services

  • 64 Intel CPU cores,
  • 512GB of memory,
  • 3TB of disk space,
  • Multiple 1Gb/s network connectivity,
  • Eight (8) 8Gb/s ports consumed on FC switches (from servers).

Internal Networking

  • Four (4) 48-port GbE switches,
  • Two (2) 36-port Infiniband (QDR - 40Gb/s) switches,
  • Lots of CAT-5e, QDR IB, and FC cables.

RDSI Services

  • 32 Intel CPU cores (NAS),
  • 256GB of memory (NAS),
  • 800GB of local SSDs (NAS),
  • 540TB of SAN storage (raw),
  • Multiple 1Gb/s, 10Gb/s, and 40Gb/s network connectivity,
  • Two (2) 48-port, 16Gb/s FC switches (total of 48 ports licensed and 32 ports consumed).
