Short Notice Outage - JCU Inter-campus connectivity



Who is Affected: All JCU staff and students
Service Affected:  JCU Inter-campus connectivity (may be affected)
When: 18th November 2015 – 12:30pm AEST
ETA: Expected duration, 10 minutes

Description: Our ISP, AARNet, has just advised us of a requirement for emergency remediation work affecting a device that JCU hosts in the Townsville Data Centre, to address major packet loss on the DASHnet research network.  This work is classed as Hazardous, meaning that all services should remain available, but due to the nature of the work, outages are possible.  If the work fails then video conferencing, access to file shares, cross campus access to systems (e.g.: Cairns accessing Townsville Dentistry), may fail or run extremely slowly.

What do I need to do? 
JCU Internet connectivity is provided via alternate devices, and should not be affected.   Please monitor Central Computing Bulletins for further updates.
