Description: The LearnJCU system experienced slow response times and intermittent service disruption in the early evenings of 22nd and 23rd July due to two DDOS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attacks directed at Blackboard’s Sydney datacentre. The vendor was able to implement measures to manage the impact of these attacks and the interruptions were each limited to a couple of hours.

A further major outage to the LearnJCU system was experienced from approximately 8pm July 23rd until approximately 6am July 24th. During this time, no users authenticating via LDAP with JCU credentials were able to successfully log in, and the cause of this issue is still being investigated by the vendor and local ICT staff.
