MO1004 - Rural and Remote Organisational Context

This module enables participants to develop an understanding of the rural and remote health service context in which they work. This module explores the broader organisational context in which health services function including the structure and function of the health service at a national and local level, and management, governance, operational and monitoring aspects of health service performance. Participants will be guided to understand the purpose of their service and to navigate their way through the organisational structures and operational processes that pertain to their work unit and health service.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify the role and responsibilities of the work unit and the alignment with strategic priorities of the organisation;
  • Describe the organisational structure and operational processes combined to support service delivery to rural and remote communities;
  • Investigate the key functions and key performance indicators for the work unit in relation to the identified health needs of the local rural and remote community;
  • Explain the value of the work unit as part of an integrated care pathway within the rural and remote community.
