Available only to students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate of Career Development.
(Students are strongly encouraged to complete ED5853 and ED5862 before or concurrent
with ED5865. This is because ED5865 builds on content in ED5862 and ED5853.)
This capstone subject provides students with a working understanding of the Professional
Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners. Students will address key
practices required to maintain high quality professional standards including career
development theory, the labour market, ethical practice, catering for diversity, and
maintaining up-to-date information and resource management.
Learning Outcomes
- student must demonstrate advanced and integrated understanding of the ethical standards
that guide the work of career development practitioners compliant with the Professional
Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners of the Career Industry Council
of Australia;
- students will become critically aware of the theoretical base that underpins and is
used to inform the work of career development practitioners, how it applies to the
labour market, and to be able to apply these to diverse populations;
- students must demonstrate the ability to develop systematic, efficient, effective
and up-to-date information and resource management skills for career development exhibiting
intercultural sensitivity;
- students must exhibit the ability to address the practices required to maintain professional
standards essential in the work of a career development practitioner, to interpret,
evaluate and justify complex ideas to specialist and non- specialist stakeholders
using advanced speaking, writing, listening, numeracy, and advocacy skills;
- students must identify and design solutions to a range of career development contexts
with initiative, accountability and collaboration.
