This is the second subject in the Professional Studies strand of the Bachelor of Education,
following ED2491 -Teaching for Learning 1. The focus of this subject will be the development
of research informed practice to support productive and engaging learning and development
in early childhood settings for children aged from birth through to 8 years. Students
will develop a range of competencies in aligning curriculum, pedagogy, assessment
and management to deliver quality learning and development experiences. Through work
integrated learning, students will develop skills in collecting and analyzing evidence
to develop their own pedagogical practices to promote engaging and challenging learning
for diverse learners. Students are required to undertake five (5) days of professional
experience.
Learning Outcomes
- establish a vision for the development of a supportive, safe and challenging learning
environment which supports student participation and manages learning effectively;
- demonstrate intellectual initiative in collecting, analysing and critiquing research
and evidence of quality teaching, learning and assessment practices in diverse workplace
contexts;
- articulate a comprehensive repertoire of pedagogical practices;
- plan, implement and evaluate effective sequenced learning experiences;
- demonstrate understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and the Australian
Professional Standards for Teachers at a developed level.
