Mechanisms of disease processes are addressed. Thus, the general principles of pathobiology
are covered with particular reference to the different causes and mechanisms of disease.
Learning Outcomes
- appreciate at the cellular level the difference between cell degeneration and death,
and adaption of cells to an altered extracellular environment;
- describe in general terms the procedures routinely used in diagnostic pathology;
- describe the cellular changes that occur in such states as genetic disorders, inflammation,
immunopathology and neoplasia;
- understand how cells respond to injury of diverse type.
