Overview of bulk solids handling systems; properties of bulk solids; design of bins:
function of bins, mass and funnel flow bins, wall pressure, feeders; gravity flow
of bulk solids; conveyors: belt conveying, pneumatic conveying, air assisted gravity
conveying, hydraulic conveying, screw conveying, vibratory conveyors, other types
(overview); other related issues.
Learning Outcomes
- to demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental properties of bulk solids and the basic
design principles of common bulk solids handling equipment.
