Available to students admitted to the Graduate Diploma of Advanced Accounting.

Students of accounting need to familiarise themselves with the business environment. This subject challenges students to understand how their professional values, ethics and attitudes are needed to communicate to the business world. These attitudes are further developed as students explore divergent opinions in a complex and dynamic business world by examining contemporary business issues.

Learning Outcomes

  • approach contemporary and emerging issues and how they should be addressed by using professional curiosity to challenge common assumptions;
  • critically evaluate current research and practice on the origins and effects of contemporary and emerging global issues;
  • judge the effects that disclosure requirements will have on financial and non-financial reporting, and consider the overall impact that a shift towards non-financial, sustainability and integrated reporting will have on enterprises and accounting functions;
  • produce new and innovative solutions to complex business issues.
