This subject covers material of direct relevance to the Financial Reporting segment of the CPA Professional Program. The subject provides candidates with financial reporting, technical accounting and business skills and values that are applicable in a professional and global environment. Specific areas covered include: the International Financial Reporting Standards; the role, importances and presentation of the financial statements; elements withing the financial statements; and financial instruments.

Learning Outcomes

  • understand the role of the accountant in the development and implementation of strategy;
  • use analytical tools and models to analyse the industry and the market in which an organisation operates and to understand and measure the performance of the organisation;
  • identify and explain the key challenges faced in the implementation of strategy and the role of the accountant in the implementation and leadership functions;
  • apply skills in thinking strategically and formulating broad strategies for consideration and application in their organisational environment;
  • consolidate the understanding of strategy and leadership concepts apply these concepts to a business case.
