Global supply chains have a strategic position in the international trade marketplace.
The successful management of supply chains, and the close collaboration among upstream
and downstream supply chain partners, is crucial to increasing supply chain visibility
and velocity while reducing variability. This subject discusses the design, planning,
execution, and improvement of supply chains. Using the Supply Chain Operations Reference
(SCOR) model, this subject examines the supply chain management processes to plan,
source, make, deliver, return, and enable, and provides an understanding of the concepts,
strategies, processes, tools, and technologies to efficiently and effectively managing
supply chains.
Learning Outcomes
- compare and contrast the design and implementation of global supply chains to support
a range of corporate strategies and objectives;
- examine material and inventory management, purchasing, manufacturing, location modelling,
retailing and information system linkages from both domestic and international perspectives;
for both government and private sector organisations;
- identify and evaluate the collaborative strategies used among various entities in
a supply chain;
- discuss the methodologies used to overcome supply chain implementation challenges
for investment decision-making.
