This subject examines the nature, dynamics and impact of human service organisations.
Students will develop knowledge about the goals, structures and cultures of human
service organisations and how these features impact the relationship between professionals
and service users. Skills in organisational management and facilitating change will
be developed and evaluated with a focus on issues of inclusion, diversity and resilience.
Learning Outcomes
- critically analyse the nature and impact of formal and informal goals, structures
and cultures of Human Service Organisations;
- critically evaluate effective strategies to foster worker resilience, service user
participation and other human service organisation sustainability issues;
- apply relevant organisational theory to explain the interplay between social welfare
practice and organisational practice;
- reflect on and analyse the nature of frontline work in human service organisations.
