This subject introduces students to a career path in the hospitality and tourism management. The subject is specific to this industry and include topics such as an introduction to hospitality, human resources management, organisational behaviour, ethical theories and how individuals working in the industry can adapt to food service operations, hospitality service management, and strategic management. The subject looks at ethical issues emerging from a leadership position of power, governance and authority. With this expansive knowledge base to create and nurture productive work environments students will develop insights on organisation that values continuous leadership development. Role play is an important aspect of student learning to showcase how they would respond to customer feedback and manage professional relationships and complex situations. Students will understand management of all forms of capital (e.g., human, financial) in an ethical and sustainable way.
