Available to students who qualify for entry to the honours program in the Bachelor of Social Sciences

Training in Honours (AQF 8) level research and writing in any area of study in the Bachelor of Social Sciences.

Learning Outcomes

  • demonstrate appropriate levels and direction of research;
  • demonstrate clarity of concept and originality of research project;
  • demonstrate evidence of understanding of and engagement with theories relevant to the topic, both contemporary and traditional;
  • demonstrate monograph-style organisation, including an introduction, chapter division and conclusion which demonstrate clarity and coherence of argument;
  • demonstrate technical correctness, as regards grammar, spelling, syntax, scholarly apparatus and bibliographical data, embodied in a fluent and readable style and a scholarly manner and tone.
Prerequisites: A Bachelor of Social Sciences degree with an appropriate major and a GPA above 5, or equivalent qualification
