The subject introduces students to professional issues relevant to working as a sport
and exercise science practitioner. The student is provided with an extended opportunity
to apply classroom learned knowledge and skills. Students will build on material learned
in previous subjects to successfully prescribe and deliver exercise. The subject provides
experience in the communication and therapeutic micro skills necessary to work effectively
with clients. Topics include client induction, interviewing, history taking, goal
setting, periodisation and program planning. Issues of client reluctance and resistance
will also be addressed. Other topics will include professional development and communication,
ethics and legal considerations. Students will identify, describe, analyse and demonstrate
a broad range of exercise modalities, and select appropriate exercises and equipment
to suit the needs and abilities of clients.

- record and evaluate client performance in professional practice situations.

- Must pass hurdle requirement; meeting with supervisor to show client pre-screening
paperwork and 4 week exercise plan - (%) - Individual
- Performance/Practice/Product > Practical assessment/practical skills demonstration - (40%) - Individual.
Special Assessment Requirements
Passing requirements: achieve satisfactory completion of practicum hours; achieve
a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as
late penalties; participate in all scheduled workshops and practicals; refer to subject
outline for further detail regarding must pass requirements.
