This is the second research project subject within the research honours major, and
is the first of a two-subject chain with SL4301. Within this subject chain students
will work independently (with supervision) to complete a research project relevant
to contemporary speech pathology. In enacting their research plan, students will be
required to demonstrate a solid understanding of their research methodology as well
as strong organisational and planning skills. Students will consolidate their knowledge
on their research topic area by undertaking a critical analysis of the literature.
Students will also collect, collate, and analyse research data in order to derive
robust research findings. Students will then critically examine their research findings
in relation to existing knowledge on their research topic, and analyse the relevance
of these findings to speech pathology theory and practice. Students will present their
research findings as a scholarly manuscript, and orally.
Learning Outcomes
- Critically analyse and synthesise literature relating to their research topic as needed
to construct a scholarly research paper suitable for publication in an academic journal;
- Demonstrate detailed and in-depth knowledge of research methods and methodology in
undertaking their research project in a systematic and scholarly manner;

- Construct a scholarly research paper integrating relevant literature and outlining
the project design, findings, and conclusions in a manner and format appropriate for
publication in an academic journal;
- Implement and maintain all approval and reporting procedures necessary to ensure that
