In this introductory technology and innovation subject, students will complete three compulsory modules, on programming and creativity. In the two programming modules, students are introduced to fundamental principles and practices of computer programming. These modules form a foundation for further programming subjects. The third module explores how creativity is an essential part of the innovation process and contemporary society. This module introduces students to the concept of creativity, from the point of view of the individual creator, including the sociocultural and environmental factors which determine the extent to which creative outputs influence and extend a particular field of activity. In addition to exploring definitional and theoretical models of creativity, this module will provide students with a range of insights into how creativity forms a necessary platform and requirement for innovation.
