Enhancing performance in organisations generally focuses on delivering shareholder value, achieving sustainability targets, and/or enhancing service quality. These outcomes are made possible by the collective effort of the departments, teams, and individuals that make up the organisation. It is therefore essential to align these efforts with organisational goals and to quantify performance in such a way that individual and group efforts are appropriately acknowledged, rewarded, and, where necessary, improved. This subject examines performance management through a psychological lens, linking this core human capital function to issues such as measurement, motivation, and moral judgment. The subject also covers the psychology of reward: examining the effects of compensation, benefits, and intangible sources of motivation and satisfaction. Building on these key contributors to performance, the subject will also explore the need to safeguard or enhance performance by implementing change.
Achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties, and attempt and submit all assessments.
