Health and safety, both physical and psychological, are important facets of organisational
productivity and success. Therefore, occupational stress and its management with regards
to coping mechanisms, strategies, and resources have increasingly become a focal point
for organisational psychologists. This subject provides an overview of the workplace
theories that focus on factors contributing to mental health and wellbeing at the
workplace. It also includes understanding of psychological (e.g., stress, burnout)
and social (e.g., social support) contexts that contribute to wellbeing for employees.
The subject also examines individual (e.g., work engagement, resilience) and organisational

Collaborative work on presentations and case studies provide direct avenues for developing
skills to promote a positive organisational environment.
