PY4202 - Individual Differences in Personality

In this subject, students will explore historical, contemporary and emerging theoretical approaches to personality. Students will also examine individual and cultural differences in the conceptualisation and measurement of personality which impact the practice of psychology.

Learning Outcomes

  • Link key aspects of contemporary theoretical developments, historical and emerging trends in the conceptualisation and assessment of personality;
  • Critically evaluate key theories and measurement of personality psychology to formulate culturally sensitive responses to problems;
  • Consolidate and apply knowledge of personality theory and assessments in a manner that is culturally appropriate and sensitive to the needs of diverse populations including but not limited to culturally and linguistically diverse, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Subject Assessment

  • Written > Test/Quiz 1 - (30%) - Individual
  • Written > Critical appraisal/review - (40%) - Individual
  • Written > Problem task - (30%) - Individual.

Special Assessment Requirements

Passing requirements: must attempt and submit all assessment tasks; achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as late penalties.
