Available to psychology students who have completed three years of study and who have
been accepted into the Graduate Diploma of Psychology. Except with the approval of
the Head of Academic Group, all subjects in a chain must be studied in consecutive
teaching periods.
Students are required as a small group to conduct a group project that culminates
in a thesis. This subject involves regular meetings with a research supervisor throughout
the course of the year; participation in professional orientation and development
seminars and the presentation of a paper based on the group's research at an annual
mini-conference.
Learning Outcomes
- communicate a clear, coherent and independent exposition of knowledge and ideas through
well- developed written and spoken English language skills;
- exercise critical thinking and judgement in the conduct of scientific investigations
to address psychological question;
- use information technologies and appropriate techniques to analyse, interpret, and
report research findings and data and generate culturally responsive solutions to
problems in psychology as evidenced by conducting a group research project under the
supervision of a member of staff.

Special Assessment Requirements
Passing requirements: participate in all scheduled group sessions; achieve a cumulative
score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as late penalties.

Must complete 72 credit points of level 1, 2, and 3 subjects from an undergraduate
Psychology course, and be accepted into the 4th year psychology stream before enrolling
in any level 4 PY subjects.
