OT3010 - Occupational Therapy Honours Project Proposal

This subject supports students in developing knowledge and skills in project conceptualisation, design and planning. Students will consolidate their skills in searching and appraising relevant academic and/or grey literature in order to evaluate current knowledge regarding a contemporary occupational therapy practice issue. They will then use the findings of this review as a foundation on which to construct a project proposal and management plan, based on which further investigation and/or action on this practice issue can be taken.

Learning Outcomes

  • source and critically evaluate both academic and grey literature of relevance to a contemporary practice issue;
  • examine current knowledge and practice in relation to a contemporary practice issue (relevant to occupational therapy) in order to articulate the project context and argue for its scope and design;
  • create a professional project plan suitable for guiding activity within and managing risks related to the project;
  • disseminate a project plan in a concise, coherent and engaging manner and respond effectively to questions and critique regarding project scope and design.

Workload expectations:

The student workload for this 3 credit point subject is approximately 130 hours.

  • 39 hours workshops/Seminars - Lectorials to support preparation and delivery of project reports and presentations
  • 90 hours - Self-directed learning activities and assessment preparation
Assessment: presentations (40%); assignments (30%); scoping review part b (individual - written) (30%).
Special Assessment Requirements: In order to pass this subject students must submit all assessment; achieve an overall average mark of 50% or above across all assessment items; achieve an overall average mark of 50% or above across all individual (non-group) assessment items; attend and participate in a minimum of 80% of tutorials / workshops.
