This subject aims to provide students with the requisite knowledge and skills to complete
system-specific and comprehensive health histories and physical examinations. The
subject will expand the student's knowledge of the cognitive processes and psychomotor
skills needed for comprehensive assessment of uncomplicated or healthy patients/clients
across the lifespan. Students will develop effective history taking, clinical interviewing,
advanced physical assessment, and clinical documentation skills in order to deliver
holistic person-centered care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care
team.
Learning Outcomes
- Apply a range of evidence based health conceptual frameworks integral to advanced
health assessment in clinical practice;
- Demonstrate clinical reasoning and decision making appropriate to their individual
scope of practice;
- Defend the application of system-specific and comprehensive health histories, and
physical examinations for delivery of holistic person- centred care in collaboration
with the multidisciplinary healthcare team;
- Perform system specific and comprehensive health histories, and physical examinations
for delivery of holistic person-centred care.

- Performance/Practice/Product > Scenario-based learning activity - (40%) - Individual
- Performance/Practice/Product > Mini-clinical evaluation exercise (mini-CEX) - (50%) - Individual.
Special Assessment Requirements
Passing requirements: complete and submit all assessment items; achieve a cumulative
score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as late penalties.
