Contemporary healthcare contexts are complex, diverse and influenced by ever changing health care priorities, policy, evidence and technologies. Educators in contemporary healthcare contexts have a responsibility to provide high quality education applicable to meeting the needs of learners in these environments. In this subject, students will examine current and emerging educational methods and technologies and apply these to design education to address identified learner needs in a contemporary healthcare context.

Learning Outcomes

  • Examine the changing nature of healthcare and the implications for education of healthcare professionals;
  • Critically reflect on the education needs of a group of learners in a healthcare context;
  • Design education using current and/or emerging educational methods and technologies to address identified learner needs in a contemporary healthcare context;
  • Evaluate the suitability of education designed to meet identified learner needs in a contemporary healthcare context.

  • Written > Test/Quiz 1 - (%) - Individual
  • Oral > Presentation 1 - (30%) - Individual
  • Written > Learning plan - (50%) - Individual
  • Written > Reflection/reflective task 1 - (20%) - Individual.

Special Assessment Requirements

Passing requirements: complete and submit all assessment items; achieve a cumulative score of at least 50% after the application of any penalties such as late penalties.
