The subject will explore contemporary issues relevant to health professional education. A number of socio-economic, political, technological and economic factors impact the contemporary healthcare environment and these can raise challenges in healthcare education. Students will be encouraged to reflect on the concept of healthcare education and their role as an educator in the healthcare setting.

Learning Outcomes

  • Evaluate advancements in technology and their influence on healthcare education;
  • Analyse contemporary teaching, learning and assessment challenges for education in healthcare contexts;
  • Critically reflect on healthcare education in your workplace and recommend contemporary education strategies that meet identified learner needs;
  • Evaluate the education needs and practices of contemporary healthcare organisations, including online learning and professional development.
