Music and lyrics represent a system of meanings that listeners may use to define their self-concept, personal and social identities as well as impart emotional content. This subject delves into the ways in which music 'hooks' the listener, creating the desire to listen to a song or composition again and again.

Learning Outcomes

  • analyse and deconstruct music and sound into meaningful and applicable data;
  • examine self-concept, personal and social identity as related to socio-economic perspectives;
  • synthesise information for a diverse range of applications and procedures.
