NM1400 - Introduction to Media Design

This subject introduces the basic elements of design, typography and effective visualisation and communication, thereby providing students with basic design skills in the area of visual communication design. Students use a range of digital tools to develop visual communication iconography and produce a corporate design system. Design history, design methods and contemporary practice are introduced through a team-based investigative research project.

Learning Outcomes

  • use the appropriate language of visual communication;
  • critique individual design projects for their aesthetic and functional effectiveness;
  • explain the relationship between design elements and effective visualisation and communication;
  • apply the fundamental principles of media design.
