This subject gives students an authentic industry work experience to facilitate the
connection between theory and practice, and to heighten awareness of issues associated
with professional practice in their chosen field. Immersion in a professional work
environment will also support reflection on, and further development of, the graduate
attributes that contribute to success transition to work after graduation. These placements
will be allocated by the university on a selective basis. Students will undertake
a minimum of 100 hours of supervised work in an approved industry workplace related
to their field of study, with a focus on tasks and activities that are relevant to
their specialisation and skill level.
Learning Outcomes
- identify critical aspects of professional behaviour within the professional context
and conduct themselves accordingly;
- engage in a professional project with a degree of independence and professional accountability,
in accordance with relevant code of ethics;
- demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving skills and professional judgement by
finding solutions to complex industry problems;
- professionally communicate, in both written and oral forms, to multi-disciplinary
teams and target audiences;
- engage and negotiate with team members and stakeholders on a project in a workplace
setting;
- critically reflect on skills, knowledge and attitudes to develop and manage professional
learning and employability and prepare for future employment.
