Financial risk management has attracted great attention from both academia and practitioners
for the past two decades. This subject provides students with up-to-date risk management
theories and models to measure and evaluate the risks involved in organisations. Upon
completion of this subject, students will be well equipped with both quantitative
and qualitative skills to resolve risk problems and make suitable recommendations
for organisation's business and investment strategies. Topics covered in this subject
include economic and statistical analysis of risk, types of risks, financial instruments,
risk modelling, business and financial risk analysis, risk management processes, ethics
and sustainability of risk management, etc.
Learning Outcomes
- interpret and apply risk management theories and concepts;
- evaluate the impacts and causes of the global financial crises in the 21st century;
- critically analyse financial risk management and apply empirical research using contemporary
case studies;
- create and construct financial and credit risk models for organisations;
- exercise and apply ethical judgement and independent initiative to creatively solve
various risk and investment related problems.
