The subject covers two discrete but related topics: the principles and practice of
courtroom advocacy and an in-depth examination of the legislation and authorities
governing the sentencing process. Practical consideration of the bail application
process are also covered. Students are introduced to the different styles and approaches
that can be applied to best present a client's case in both civil and criminal appearances
across a range of courts and will have the opportunity to practise the skills taught
in a practical setting.
