To provide a practical and theoretical understanding of the law of evidence to prepare students for what will be required in practice. The course will give a background to the development of the common law and will also look at the relevant Queensland and Commonwealth legislation.

Learning Outcomes

  • an awareness of the importance of evidence to legal practice;
  • develop skills to determine relevant and irrelevant facts and evidence;
  • develop the ability to research and analyse primary and secondary sources;
  • development of written communication skills.
Prerequisites: (LA2017 or LA1005) and (LA2018 or LA1004) and (LA2020 or LA1012)
