Students hone newswriting skills learned in first year while refining such professional
practice skills as effective interviewing techniques; writing, filming or collecting
audio in an engaging way; and delivering accurate stories to deadline. In this subject
students begin to build a portfolio of work while they gather stories for the JCU
digital media platform. Students are assigned rounds as they learn how to engage in
authentic reporting.
Learning Outcomes
- establish a network of news contacts;
- produce a regular flow of news stories for the print media to publishable standards.
