This subject will deepen the theoretical knowledge in regards to clinical and academic
research in the allied health sciences and provide practical experience with the application
of this knowledge. It will build on HS2402 by exploring how to design a research project
using quantitative and/or qualitative methodologies the importance of ethical issues
in research, and understanding research and research quality. This subject will reinforce
principles, methods and skills required for evidence based practice in allied health.
- Apply these theoretical concepts to develop a detailed research proposal that requires
quantitative and qualitative methodologies. This proposal will involve written and

assess the appropriate tool for a variety of published research using qualitative
and quantitative methodology, and use the tool to critically appraise the research;
- Recognise and discuss the theoretical and applied dimensions of ethics as relevant
to research in allied health sciences;
- Describe the theoretical concepts of quantitative and qualitative research methods
in the Allied Health sciences.
