This subject aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), as well as hands-on experience using a GIS to address a real-world environmental issue.

Learning Outcomes

  • Evaluate key issues and limitations in geography, mapping and remote sensing;
  • Analyse a range of spatial data and create effective maps using industry standard GIS software;
  • Work in teams to collect spatial data answering your own real-world question and communicate the findings effectively;
  • Explain key concepts in geography, mapping and remote sensing including scale, coordinate systems and spectral signatures.
