The aim of this subject is to foster agency in PSTs' transition to the profession,
through consolidation and integration of knowledge and practice gained throughout
the course. This subject will focus on developing PST's professional ethics, agency
and philosophy of teaching through focused analysis of authentic school-based scenarios,
linked to Final Professional Experience placements and Early Career Phase experiences.
PSTs will synthesise knowledge of complex ethics and judgement frameworks to identify
sources of knowledge, and resources to guide responsive, informed, expert decision
making in relation to student learning and well-being and student family interaction.
The role of classroom teachers in facilitating individual, class and whole of school
improvement and community goals is examined. This will include developing community
responsive frameworks and procedures for parent and community consultation. The subject
assures PSTs' capacities to work within collaborative teams, articulate and justify
their practice to meets the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (Graduate)
in and beyond a classroom setting and identify a trajectory of continuing professional
learning towards Proficiency in the APST.
