Students are required to collect a range of data and evidence during the ED4489 Professional
Experience placement which is integral to completing the assessment requirements for
ED4090/ED4190/ED4293. Available ONLY to students enrolled in the BEd. External available
only to External ECE students.
This subject is part of the developmental curriculum for Professional Experience within
the Bachelor of Education program. In school settings relevant to their specialist
sector (Early Childhood, Primary or Secondary) students will complete five (5) allocated
weeks (25 days) of Professional Experience. For students enrolled in the BEd (Early
Childhood Education), Professional Experience will be undertaken in a school with
children aged 5-8 years. All students will complete a range of activities to assure
the Australian Professional Standards for Graduate Teachers. As a culminating experience,
students will plan, teach and evaluate a full-time four-week teaching block. In addition,
all students must attend five (5) days of online Professional Orientation, which will
include professional development and seminars with education leaders and stakeholders.

- plan, manage, teach, evaluate a minimum three week full-time equivalent block across
all subjects in ECE and Primary and full-time equivalent across both curriculum areas
and including junior and senior in Secondary.
Subject Assessment
- Satisfactory completion of Professional Experience.
Special Assessment Requirements
Completion of the required consecutive 25 days Professional Experience and submission
of a Satisfactory grading - Minimum of Graduate Level in all descriptors against the
Professional Experience QPERF Report. Mandatory attendance of the five (5) days Online
Professional Orientation, which will include professional development. Attendance
at Professional Experience Workshops is an essential component of the Work Integrated
Learning Program.
