Students must enrol in ED4090 or ED4190 or ED4293 prior to the commencement of ED4488.
Consequently, it is essential that ED4488 and ED4090/ED4190/ED4293 are taken in conjunction
with one another. External available only to External ECE students. Professional Experience:
The process of placing students for Professional Experience begins the year prior
to placement. Transferring students or out-of-step students must notify the Professional
Experience Unit on the relevant campus at the beginning of Semester 2 of the year

This subject is part of the developmental curriculum for Professional Experience in
schools within the Bachelor of Education program. Primary and Secondary students will
complete four (4) allocated weeks (20 days) of Professional Experience. Early Childhood
students will complete two(2) allocated weeks (10 days) of Professional Experience
in a school setting and complete two (2) weeks (10 days) in a prior to school setting
with children aged 3-5 years. All students will complete a range of activities to
assure the Australian Professional Standards for Graduate Teachers and, for B.Ed (ECE)
students, relevant ACECQA standards, are met.
Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate a commitment to use a repertoire of language, literacy and numeracy skills
appropriate to the teaching profession;
- demonstrate a broad understanding of professional knowledge and practices, Australian
Professional Standards for Teachers at Graduate Level and other regulatory frameworks,
relevant to practice in the field of ECE, Primary and Secondary Education and use
these to critically assess professional growth;
- articulate and integrate into practice knowledge of policies, procedures, legal and
ethical considerations, and research consistent with requirements of employing authorities;
- identify, value, analyse and support a range of learner diversity, including learners
with special educational needs, in a school and prior to a school setting.
Subject Assessment
- Satisfactory completion of all Professional Experience requirements.
Special Assessment Requirements
The completion of the required consecutive 20 days of Professional Experience and
submission of a Satisfactory grading - Minimum of Developing Towards Graduate Level
in all descriptors against the Professional Experience QPERF Report is a requirement
to pass this subject.
