Students must enrol in ED4090 prior to the commencement of ED4388. Students are required
to collect a range of data and evidence during the ED4388 professional experience
placement which is integral to completing the assessment requirements for ED4090.
Consequently, it is essential that ED4388 and ED4090 are taken in conjunction with
one another.
This subject is part of the developmental curriculum for Professional Experience within
the Bachelor of Education program. Students will complete two(2) allocated weeks (10
days) of Professional Experience in a a prior to school setting with children aged
3-5 years and complete two (2) weeks (10 days) in a school setting.
Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate a commitment to use a repertoire of language and literacy skills appropriate
to the teaching profession;
- develop an understanding of school settings and how they operate over a school term;
- use professional standards to critically assess professional growth;
- integrate and begin to articulate knowledge of policies, research and practices and
own personal practice consistent with employing authorities and school policies and
procedures and legal and ethical obligations of teachers;
- identify, value, analyse and support a range of learner diversity, including learners
with special educational needs, in a school setting.
Subject Assessment
- Satisfactory completion of all Professional Experience requirements.
Special Assessment Requirements
The completion of the required consecutive 20 days of Professional Experience and
submission of a Satisfactory grading - Minimum of Developing Towards Graduate Level
in all descriptors against the Professional Experience QPERF Report is a requirement
to pass this subject. On-campus mandatory attendance at five (5) days of Professional
orientation, which will include professional development.
