What is evidence? How do we make judgements about the quality of evidence that is presented to us? In this subject, you will develop a theoretical understanding of validity and reliability in assessment and evaluation. You will be introduced to an array of strategies to assess and evaluate ideas, concepts and products - including both qualitative and quantitative data. Particular emphasis will be placed on ethical practices associated with the reporting of research, assessment and evaluation data. Through the assessment tasks of this subject, you will select and apply an array of quantitative and qualitative strategies to assess and evaluate an idea/concept/product/process. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to assess and evaluate your own development as a learner, and to appreciate the role of a learner in the assessment and evaluation process. This subject engages you in both technical and theoretical considerations of the role of evidence in making claims and in informing practice. This subject is positioned as a Level 3 subject as it builds upon conceptual understandings attained in SC1101: Science: Nature, Knowledge and Understanding, ED2610 Nature of Inquiry, and ED3610 Professional Communication Practices. This subject will enable you to engage with contemporary professional practices and will develop your professional competencies.

Learning Outcomes
