EA5029 - Integrated Spatial Analysis and Remote Sensing of Mineral Exploration Targets

[Offered in even-numbered years]

Credit points: 06
Year: 2019
Student Contribution Band: Band 2
Administered by: College of Science and Engineering

This subject introduces various modern GIS-aided and/or GIS-based techniques for mapping of prospective target areas for mineral exploration. It consists of two parts: (I) spectral remote sensing for mineral exploration and (II) spatial analysis for mapping of mineral prospectivity.

Learning Outcomes

  • recognise indications of mineralisation from remotely-snesed data;
  • analysis and integrate geoscience spatial information (e.g., geochemical anomalies) to map mineral prospectivity using GIS.
Prerequisites: Minerals Geoscience Masters students only
