Today's world is data and information intensive, but knowledge poor. In this subject
students explore the computing skills required to enable basic understanding of data,
information processing, and data visualisation. Students use analytic tools to model,
analyse, evaluate and design business processes. Relevant themes covered include the
information generation, representation, structuring, organisation, storage, retrieval,
navigation, human factors in information systems, and use of information. Students
also gain hands-on experience in processes and procedures in information processing
and management.
Practical attendance is mandatory in this subject. A student who fails to attend and
demonstrate their attempt to at least 70% of practical, must meet with the Associate
Dean of Learning and Teaching and provide evidence as to why they should be permitted
to sit the final exam or submit the final assessment task.
