This subject introduces students to the vital areas of corporate financial management in today's globalised world of business. While the focus will be mostly on the financial management of multinational enterprises, students should be aware that, increasingly, domestically-focussed businesses are exposed to international risk, as they engage in exporting and importing, or borrowing in foreign currencies.

Learning Outcomes

  • describe the corporate financing and investment strategies used in foreign exchange markets and international settings;
  • critically examine and evaluate the essential features of currency derivatives such as futures, options and swaps contracts in multinational financial risk management;
  • discuss and evaluate the management strategies used to minimise corporate exposure to business operations and transactions in the multinational marketplace.
